093, The Greensand Ridge Walk, Jun 21-22 2003

21-22 June 2003, Dave Foster & Clive Marston. Greensand Ridge Walk with overnight bivvi. Met in Sandy @
08:00. Left one car there, another in Ampthill Park & one at Tesco, Leighton Buzzard. Enjoyed huge, cheap
cooked breakfast, then walked Leighton Buzzard to Ampthill Park, ~ 16 miles. Hot, sunny and very quiet.
Dinner at Woburn Abbey (accompanied by 2 ducks), bought fresh, free-range eggs along the way. Arrived at
St. Catherine's Cross about 20:00. Changed, then walked into village for a curry. Bivvied on top under a thin
cloudy sky. Up at 07:00, enjoyed coffee and boiled free-range eggs! Light drizzle. Ampthill to Sandy, ~ 16
miles. Dinner in pub near Haynes. Hot, but cloud kept the direct sun off us. Tremendous thunder and
lightning over Bedford in the afternoon. We got a little wet as we neared Northill, but by then we were
feeling the effects. Finished about 19:00.
