S22, Champagny-en-Vanoise, La Plagne, French Alps, 1-5 Feb 2013

New skiing pastures! Stayed in a lovely apartment in Champagny-en-Vanoise, a very short walk to the lift. Champagny itself has great skiing, and is linked by 5 routes to the enormous La Plagne area, an intermediate's paradise. However, we had fresh snow, ungroomed pistes, low clouds and poor visibility for much of our 4½ days, and even freezing mist! It was Sunday before we could leave Champagny and explore the wonderful wooded pistes to Les Coches & Montalbert and enjoy some sunshine. However, we were caught out by Inversens lift closing earlier than expected and just made a last gasp return over Col de Forcle at 5pm! Also, descended Kamikaze red for the first time in a white out, skiing by feel & very carefully! We look forward to returning next year!
